Gary J Beharry

I began as a volunteer tutor at Queens Public Library's Adult Learner Program and never looked back. The library has been my work home since 2005. Today, I am privileged to work with a talented and diverse team of Learning Support Specialists, Volunteers, Teachers and Full Time Staff. Our basic services include ESOL and ABE classes as well as case management services to the community. Additionally, we provide bilingual educational, computer, family and social services workshops as well as computer classes and TASC testing.
I like helping people in the community achieve their goals through the unique and multicultural services we offer.
Yeneika Puran
Rochdale Village Center Manager
I have been working in the field of Adult Education for more than seven years. I joined Queens Library in 2014, and before that, I worked as a case manager, community organizer, and executive director at several grassroots organizations. I have a Master's Degree in Urban Studies from Long Island University and a Master's in Social Work from Lehman College. During my time at the Library, I worked in various capacities under the Adult Learner Program first, as a Case Manager with the Job and Business Academy, then as a Literacy Specialist with the Rochdale Adult Learning Center. Currently, I serve as the Program Manager of the Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education Program (IELCE) and Interim Center Manager for the Rochdale Village Adult Learning Center. What excites me the most about working at Queens Library is knowing that I am helping to empower individuals to pursue their education, career, and life goals. I am passionate about the work that we do, and what drives me the most is the commitment and dedication of the customers we serve.
